 Adoption is a lifelong event.

Our collaborative journey of Adoption Literacy must be, too.

TEEN ADOPTEE IDENTITY & SKILLS GROUP

Cam offers a fun, interactive atmosphere to introduce “6 Journey Points” - adoptee-specific concepts that your family needs to process during adolescence.*

Facilitated by author and Korean adoptee Cam Lee Small, MS, LPCC

Curriculum inspired by The Adoptee’s Journey: From Loss and Trauma to Healing and Empowerment

PARENTS join Cam for an exclusive Parenting Adolescent Adoptees seminar on the evening of Tuesday October 28th at 7:00pm-7:45pm central to a) recap what your teens have learned/practiced throughout the group and b) discuss your strategies to support them moving forward.

Teen adoptees ages 13-17 gather for 6 sessions weekly and virtually on Zoom. Tuesdays at 7:00pm-7:45pm central time, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, and 10/21.

Adoptees get:

  1. Safe, refreshing, invitational environment
  2. Confidential space to ask questions
  3. Time to hear from others
  4. Six weekly themes that guide our discussion
  5. FREE access to online course for teen adoptees ($79 value) and adoptee workbook ($19.99 value)
  6. Co-created strategies and skills to apply personally and immediately
  7. New peers and community, along with a place to share from their specific lived experience
  8. Adoptive parents receive exclusive training and workshop interactions hosted by Cam through the *Parenting Adolescent Adoptees Seminar 10/28/25.

*Each week, Cam facilitates open yet gently guided discussion and activities related to that week’s corresponding journey point. This particular curriculum is inspired by Cam’s recently published book and aims to help adoptee youth develop a deeper sense of self-awareness, widen the scope of their identities, develop healthy relationships, navigate the challenges of today’s digital world, translate their tech savviness toward their capacities for mental health, and be empowered for a hopeful future.

This group provides teen adoptees (ages 13-17) with the confidence that they're not alone; and competence that will support their journey as friends, peers, students, and community members.

Whether they know it or not, teen adoptees are going to eventually need these basic skills:

  • Examine and articulate immediate and longer-term goals

  • Be honest about barriers they’ll encounter along the way

  • Navigate concepts related to “who am I?” and “who am I from?”

  • Recognize and practice a vocabulary to help them organize parts of their story

  • Know where/who to turn for resources and how to access them

  • Self-reflection and choice about their capacities, strategies, and willingness to take action

  • *Curriculum is always evolving, so this group is a robust, dynamic resource for new folks as well as teen adoptees who've been a part of previous cohorts!

To the adoptee reading this, what an honor and thrill it is to be able to offer this kind of space for y'all. I can’t wait to work together with you and the group this next season!! -Cam

NEXT STEPS:

1) Register through the form on this page. Seats are reserved once tuition payment is complete. You'll receive private Zoom info/access in a follow-up email. Seats are first come first served and are limited to 15 adoptees, so you'll see "sold out" if seats are no longer available.

2) Look out for a few check-ins / resources from Cam as we get closer to our start date and your teen can get ready for an awesome fall season with fellow adoptees!

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, thank you again for inviting me into your family's adoption journey in this way!

Best!
