Wondering how to get (or offer) more in therapy?

Sometimes there's more to process but we can't quite put our finger on it.

Or sometimes there's so much to talk about but it's so hard to know where to start or how to organize everything that's going on in your story at the moment.

As a Korean American adoptee I've been there, but also as a clinician who serves adoptees, fosters, and families on a daily basis, I've noticed patterns of importance emerge and I'm happy to share a brief review of those patterns here with you.

This is a very brief overview that I unpack much further in my book The Adoptee's Journey: From Loss and Trauma to Healing and Empowerment (it turns two this month yay!!!).

Watch the short 4-minute video here to learn the RISEN framework and start applying it in and outside of your counseling contexts, but also please do check out the book to explore RISEN more in depth as it applies to your story and the goals/needs you're navigating this season and beyond.

PS: This can be a helpful resource for fosters, adoptees, parents, professionals, and allies, to help elevate your understanding of what's worth exploring and worth providing resources for as we seek to make the world a better place for those impacted by the child welfare system.
