The Adoptive Parenting Consultation Group is a fellowship of real people, committed to real and lasting growth, not just for themselves but for each other, those growing within them, and for the dynamic needs in their local communities to which they’ve been called to see and serve.

As an adoptee, I’ve been navigating this journey for over 40 years, and I’ve designed this 6-week group experience to support adoptive parents as you approach these nuanced and ever-evolving dimensions of trauma-sensitive caregiving.

Join us for the next consultation group beginning in October 2025:

Fall sessions will be hosted weekly and virtually on Zoom
Tuesdays at 11am-12pm Central Time (9-10am Pacific Time, 10-11am Mountain Time; 12-1pm Eastern Time)
Dates: 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/11

[Tuition covers up to two caregivers per household]

Meet Cam

Cam Lee Small, author, clinician in private practice, and dynamic advocate for mental health and Adoption Literacy, brings lived experience and professional expertise to the forefront of his mission.

Cam is both an alum and training facilitator for the cohort-based Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate, which includes over 70 hours of continued education delivered through University of Minnesota’s Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare - to increase the number of qualified permanency and adoption mental health and child welfare professionals across Minnesota.

Cam’s community-based vision for adoptee-informed advocacy is evident through his 1:1 counseling services, live workshops and support groups, and his unique blend of content creation/collaboration across digital and grassroots platforms. His book The Adoptee’s Journey: From Loss and Trauma to Healing and Empowerment addresses the intersection of adoption, mental health, and social responsibility. Cam's personal insight stands honestly next to his professional acumen, making him a transformative force within the adoptee community and throughout the fields of advocacy and mental health.

It’s all rooted in this one vision of Adoption Literacy… a world in which those who experience the trauma of being separated from their families are met by a village to help them tell that story… and find healing from it, too.
